Request for Proposal for Single Waste Hauler

The Oxford Board of Trustees is seeking proposals for a Single Waste Hauler to provide waste disposal services for the entire Charter Township of Oxford (excludes the Village of Oxford).

Bids will be received at the Township Clerk's office at the Charter Township of Oxford until April 11, 2024, at 12:00 PM.

Safety Begins at Home

The Oxford Fire Dept. is distributing and installing smoke alarms and carbon monoxide alarms, free of charge, in homes occupied by Oxford Township and Village residents, particularly senior citizens (age 55 and older), individuals with disabilities and low-income earners. Housing options include historic village homes built in the late 1800s and early 1900s, modern subdivisions, lakefront properties, condominiums, apartments and scenic horse farms that look like postcards come to life.

Oxford’s business community is quite diverse. It includes a thriving manufacturing sector that designs, develops and makes products for domestic and global markets. A variety of industries are served by Oxford firms, including automotive, medical, defense, alternative energy, food production, tool and die, sports equipment, retail, oil and gas, aerospace and nuclear.

A revitalized, walkable downtown district that’s loaded with dining, shopping and entertainment options draws residents and visitors alike. Downtown Oxford is listed on the prestigious National Register of Historic Places and has a nationally-accredited Main Street program.

Oxford is served by a top-notch fire department that protects the township and village 24-7 with two stations staffed by a mix of career and paid-on-call personnel. Since February 2000, the township has contracted with the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office for law enforcement services.

Oxford has 500 acres of public parkland spread across four township parks: Seymour Lake, Stony Lake, Powell Lake and Oakwood Lake. Amenities include a senior center; disc golf courses; soccer, softball, and baseball fields; basketball, volleyball, tennis, and pickleball courts; playgrounds; a boat launch and beach; fishing piers; natural trails, picnic pavilions; a splashpad; an outdoor ice skating rink; and sledding hills.

Passing through Oxford is the Polly Ann Trail, a 16.9-mile linear park that was designated as a Pure Michigan Trail in 2019. It is frequently used by walkers, hikers, runners, cyclists, equestrians and nature lovers. The Polly Ann Trail is part of Michigan’s Iron Belle Trail, which stretches from the Upper Peninsula to Belle Isle in Detroit.

Over the years, the township has constructed a 13.3-mile network of paved safety paths that allows pedestrians of all ages and abilities to access a variety of places, including local businesses, government offices, places of worship, schools, parks and cultural institutions.

Public transportation for senior citizens, individuals with disabilities and low-income residents is available through the North Oakland Transportation Authority (NOTA), which is funded in part by Oxford taxpayers.

The award-winning Oxford Community Television (OCTV) keeps residents informed, entertained and engaged. From its station in Seymour Lake Township Park, OCTV covers all aspects of the community and provides viewers with a wide variety of original programming. OCTV broadcasts 24-7 on Channel 191 (Charter/Spectrum) and Channel 99 (AT&T U-verse).
